Adam Yauch (aka MCA), one third of the Beastie Boys, launched his own film production company earlier this year under the name Oscilloscope Pictures. Their first release is Gunnin’ for that #1 Spot, which follows eight high school ballers (they are currently in the NCAA) as they make their way to The Elite 24. It shows the struggles and pressure these young athletes go through in order to fulfill their dreams and become #1. The film debuts later this month at the Tribeca Film Festival, and will hit theatres late June.

Earlier this week, we showed you the latest piece by Banksy. Jeremy Gibbs decided to film the piece - more importantly, the people checking it out - for a full hour. Word on the street is that Amazon is set to become LoveFilm's largest shareholder in a deal that includes rebranding its UK and German DVD rental business under the LoveFilm banner has got to be a good thing.
Amazon Europe will also make a cash investment in LoveFilm to become the largest shareholder in LoveFilm International and the two companies will also enter an agreement in which Amazon will promote LoveFilm's services on its sites for UK and German customers. Following completion of the deal, the LoveFilm subscriber base will expand to over 900,000 customers, predominantly in the UK and Germany, but also in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
Awesome.

Our good friends at Filmaka are running a competition for a chance to direct UNKLE's next music video. They have hooked up with label Surrender All and Canon to launch a competition where the winner will direct their next single 'Restless'. Entrants need to submit two minutes of video footage to represent their directing style and a pitch document 17th December. Yeah.
