Old user who has come back.... What happenened?
Hey, I'm so happy to see Protein OS back up and running. I was a long time user and received e-mails for years, then one day they stopped, and The site was "down". Can anyone fill me in on what happened?

to answer your question, there is no single event that caused the OS to disappeared over a year ago, but more a combination of good and bad coincidences.
back in may/june last year, we were looking to do a major overhaul of the OS as the original backend systems where reaching their capacity, this combined with a major database failure meant that the decision was made to pull the site down temporarily in order to build the new 10.0 release. however, what we didn't foresee was the length of time this would take, as we also moved offices in july, got involved with a number of other large projects [RESFEST and MOO] as well as trying to gauge the now mainstream "social networking" landscape.
we missed the OS as much as i'm sure you guys did, but it has been a real journey to get it back and for that i and team are really proud. that said, i'm even more excited about what's in the pipeline for the future as it's going to take everything to a whole level.
