It doesn't get more video tech than this. Radiohead have just premiered their music video for the song "House of Cards" on the Google Developer site.
Alex from Hide and Seek would like me to tell you about his festival for "social games and playful experiences" which opens tomorrow. It's not your average festival, but then Alex isn't your average man. A bunch of us are hitting the "This is it ..." event and party tomorrow night, so if your lucky enough to have a ticket, see you there.

I've always been a big fan of cartography. Might be something to do with always wanting to know where I was. Anyway, I've been meaning to post some links from Russell Davies Interesting event last Saturday, so here's the first one.

Christians

Muslims
David Raven Ellison is a geography teacher and he gave a great talk on Guerrilla Geography and used these great maps from Worldmapper.org a site set-up by some clever people at Sussex University.
Yes indeed, the first mini-Protein® Forum event is taking place on 2nd July as part of 2gether08 at the Rochelle School in Shoreditch. They've got a great line-up of speakers, panels, workshops and sessions so get your ticket now.
The format for the Protein® Forum events are going to be similar to the Freq events we used to run at 54 Below i.e. 3 speakers, 30 mins each with drinks and DJ's after. The difference for the 2gether event is that we are on at 10:30 in the morning, so no drinks and DJ's this time.
David Wilcox has just posted the interview I did with him last week at One Alfred Place ahead of the first Protein® Forum event at 2gether08 in a couple of weeks. Hating the sound of my own voice. Loving the fact the I got "TED Shoreditch" in.
Just stumbled on the very pretty BBC Bloom climate change site made by the guys at mN in Manchester .

Is this the first fully open source future of web animation and possible flash killer? Well, if you've got a few hundred hours and a lot a patience it is. Either way, you know where you saw it first.
If the embedded video doesn't show, you can see it here:

Protein is helping put this on and we have a few free names on the list if anyone is interested in coming. Just drop me a line and I'll see what we can sort out.

Here's a little pre-release tipoff from my man Grubblemouse. Physically reminiscent of a Victorian cyclorama, The O2 Memory Project is a 10 foot high cylinder designed by Jason Bruges with eleven cameras placed equidistance around its perimeter. Each of these cameras takes a picture in sequence every five seconds, creating a 360 degree, digital panorama of the outside location very minute. Animated lights on The O2 Memory Project's exterior shell signal when each camera is about to take a shot.

Not sure about the name, but Get Naked does have some interesting usability functions that go along way to answering some of the issues with web 2.0. It's still in private beta, so you'll have to make to with the tour in the meantime. That said, it still all feels a little too ... false ... but maybe that's just me.
Mr Gower has just tipped me off about Nesta's upcoming conference, The Innovation Edge on 20th May at the Royal Festival Hall. The aim of the event is to "bring together a powerful mix of the world's leading academic, political and industry experts to consider the latest developments in innovation." I can't get enough of conferences at the moment, especially when they have a great line-up and they're free. Awesome.
Yahoo! will join the OpenSocial application platform championed by Google. The search giant is also partnering with Google and MySpace to create a non-profit support body, the OpenSocial Foundation. Its role, they say, will be to support the OpenSocial project by creating and managing forums to discuss applications and development techniques. It will run as a non-profit body, with assets to be declared and assigned by Jul 1.
Heralded by Google as the next step towards true cross-platform interaction, OpenSocial is a set of specifications that lets developers create and run applications across any participating social network. A range of social networks have joined its platform, including MySpace, hi5 and Friendster, and Google claims that more than 200m users currently use applications that are part of OpenSocial. Facebook, however, is notably absent from the project.
The longstanding rumour that Steve Jobs is about to offer an iTunes "all you can eat" music subscription service is getting closer by the day. For all those Gerd Leonhard fans out there, this isn't new news, but for the rest it is definitely the future of music.
